Swedish 1855s Black Painted Chest with Central Door and Seven Drawers
-
Description
An unusual Swedish black painted chest of drawers from the mid 19th century, with seven drawers, central door, carved apron and tapered legs. Created in Sweden during the third quarter of the 19th century, this chest attracts our attention with its unusual design and black painted color. The chest features a rectangular top with canted corners in the front, sitting above a carved dentil molding. The façade showcases a central door with molded frame, surrounded by six small drawers and a longer one with partitioned interior, all fitted with brass pulls. The chest is flanked with canted side posts adorned with raised medallions in their upper section. The ensemble is resting on four tapered legs, angled in the front and straight in the back, connected to one another through an apron carved on three sides. The back is, of course, unfinished. With its clean lines and black painted color, this Swedish chest of drawers circa 1855 will make for a wonderful addition to any bedroom or living room.
