Description
Made in Sweden in the late nineteenth century, this sideboard belongs to the Scandinavian tradition of practical case furniture for the dining room or hall. The sideboard provides enclosed cupboard storage with a serving surface above, proportioned for everyday use against a wall. The construction follows the framed and panelled methods typical of Swedish furniture of the period, and the timber carries the patina associated with age. Suited to a dining room, hall, or kitchen, the sideboard offers storage together with a surface for serving or display. Its late nineteenth-century date gives it period character. Suited to both traditional and plainer modern interiors, the sideboard combines practical storage with decorative form. As a Swedish sideboard of the late nineteenth century, it offers enclosed storage and a serving surface together with the honest construction and restrained character of Scandinavian furniture, working as a functional and decorative piece in a dining room or hall.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
