Swedish glass display case in antique white, late 19th–early 20th century
-
Description
A distinguished two‑part Swedish display case, c. 1890–1910, finished in antique white with a softly aged patina. The upper cabinet features two glazed doors secured by an original lock; two keys are included. Inside, the cream‑painted interior holds four shelves and a flexible shelf‑positioning system, allowing practical adjustment for books, china, or collectibles. The top is crowned by a broad cornice, while both upper and lower sections are flanked by slender, milled columns that add subtle classical structure.
The lower case functions as a classic sideboard with two shallow drawers above a pair of paneled doors. Drawer and door fronts carry delicate molded frames with milling detail, mirroring the architectural language of the upper section. Original locks and hardware are retained, reinforcing the cabinet’s integrity. Interior storage below consists of one fixed shelf.
Resting on stable, tapering legs, the piece is made of Swedish pine and displays age‑appropriate wear rather than heavy restoration. The overall look is restrained, elegant, and well suited to period or transitional interiors where light, historic painted furniture is desired.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
