A Swedish Gustavian style painted wood chest from the mid 19th century, with three drawers, raised top and carved motifs. Created in Sweden during the third quarter of the 19th century, this painted chest features a rectangular raised top with canted corners sitting above three drawers fitted with Classical oval-shaped hardware. Flanked with canted side posts accented with foliage motifs and raised on short tapered feet angled in the front, the chest is painted in a soft color typical of the Scandinavian taste for light palettes. With its clean lines and delicate décor, this Swedish Gustavian style three-drawer chest circa 1860 will bring a touch of undeniable elegance to any home, whether placed in a bedroom or living room.
