Description
A late eighteenth-century Tyrolean armoire of solid pine, bearing its original hand-painted folk art finish and dated 1793, placing its creation precisely in the final decade of the century. The painted decoration is characteristic of the Tyrolean tradition, which favored bold floral and geometric motifs rendered in the bright regional palette of the Alpine foothills. The survival of the original paint surface across more than two centuries is a significant distinction, rarely encountered at this level of preservation. The inscription of the date directly onto the piece provides an exact and verifiable provenance. A historically specific and highly characterful example of provincial Alpine craftsmanship.
