Description
An exceptional late 18th century Venetian Louis XVI leaf-shaped chest of drawers, attributed to the Verona/Vicenza area, distinguished by its elegant bowed front and sophisticated architectural lightness. Entirely veneered in cherry, ebony, and maple, the surface displays a beautifully nuanced contrast of warm and dark tones, highlighting the refined geometry and craftsmanship associated with the finest Veneto cabinetmaking.
The gracefully curved façade opens with three drawers, each following the serpentine movement of the front and fitted with contemporary handles and original locks retaining period keys. Fine linear inlays and the interplay of contrasting veneers emphasize the chest’s leaf-like silhouette, giving the piece a sculptural elegance from every angle.
Raised on slender stiletto legs, the commode achieves a remarkable sense of poise and delicacy while maintaining practical functionality. The top mirrors the shaped outline below, creating a harmonious and highly decorative profile.
A superb example of Venetian late 18th century craftsmanship, this chest offers both refined storage and statement presence, ideal for sophisticated interiors ranging from classical to modern curated spaces.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
