Description
A Directoire style commode with three drawers fitted with mortised, custom cast, Greek-key inspired handles and having turned, reeded corner uprights modeled after Roman fasces, “tied” with ribbons of custom cast brass incised into the reeds and terminating in large, turned brass feet. Top surface shown with inset brass. Also available with domestic marble top or other custom surface.
The original inspiration for this commode, and for a later set commissioned by Lord Mountbatten, was by Antoine Pierre Jacot, Master 1766, and is in the Rochas Collection. -
