Victorian Mahogany Sideboard, 19th Century
-
Description
English china cabinet from the Victorian era, late 19th century.
Its distinctive solid mahogany structure is slightly tilted backward. Its curved, sinuous shapes, so characteristic of the Victorian era, are reminiscent of the Rococo.
Its mahogany surface is protected by clear glass. Resting on this surface is a small mirror set in an oval mahogany frame decorated with carved flowers and ribbons.
The front has a slight crossbow shape. In its center is a large paneled door with the original period glass. The interior, with two shelves, is upholstered in a beautiful aqua-green patterned fabric.
On either side of the large door, there are three triangular shelves supported by a long, S-shaped column with carved decorations.
