Description
This 20th-century Swedish side table is a beautiful representation of the Gustavian style, a hallmark of Swedish design that combines neoclassical elegance with rustic simplicity. Originating in the late 18th century during the reign of King Gustav III, this style draws inspiration from French neoclassicism while embracing the Nordic sensibility of lightness and practicality.
Crafted from pine, this table showcases clean, straight lines and a lightly distressed white painted finish, a signature element of Gustavian furniture. The finish not only enhances its antique character but also reflects the Nordic tradition of creating bright, airy interiors by using soft, neutral tones. The single drawer, featuring a charming round wooden pull, adds both functionality and understated detail, making it ideal for storing small items.
The tapered legs, a defining feature of the Gustavian style, give the piece an elegant, refined silhouette while maintaining structural sturdiness. The table’s design makes it a versatile addition to various settings, such as a bedside table in a bedroom, an accent piece in an entryway, or a functional side table in a living room. -
