Italian Louis XVI Inlaid Commode with Floral Marquetry, Late 18th Century

An exceptional Italian Louis XVI commode dating to the late 18th century, masterfully crafted with striking marquetry and refined neoclassical lines. This three-drawer chest is veneered in richly grained walnut and adorned with intricate inlays in satinwood and fruitwood, forming geometric borders and finely detailed floral medallions.
The commode rests on elegant tapered legs and features canted corners, each paneled and inlaid for a harmonious architectural rhythm. The top, also veneered in walnut, is beautifully bookmatched and centered with a circular marquetry motif, framed by delicate stringing that mirrors the drawer fronts.
Its warm patina and meticulous inlay work reflect the high standards of late 18th-century Italian cabinetry, likely from Northern Italy, where the influence of French neoclassicism merged with regional decorative traditions.
A refined and functional statement piece, fully restored and ready to elevate both traditional and contemporary interiors.
