    This exceptional demi-lune side table showcases superb eighteenth-century craftsmanship, executed with the finest gilding and composition work, and preserved in remarkable condition. The rich West Indian satinwood displays a warm colour and striking figuring, framed by a sycamore marquetry border delicately inlaid with floral motifs.

    A particularly rare and distinctive element is the large, beautifully painted panel depicting an ancient Greek scene featuring Demeter, the goddess of the harvest.

    Robert Cunninghame Graham (1737–1797), possibly from Finlaystone House (sold 1862), Gartmore House (sold 1900), or Ardoch House, and thence by descent to:
    Lady Patricia Cunninghame Graham (on loan to Culzean Castle, 1982–2017).
