Description
Round 'Africa' Table, designed by Afra & Tobia Scarpa, for Maxalto 'Artona' Series. The circular top in ebony wood, with the outer rim in ebony and walnut. The whole is supported on a square pedestal base. This round dining table, which also works great as a game table or center table, features the signature Artona solid striped walnut edge detail, The Artona series was the first line produced by Maxalto, who was the specialist division of B&B Italia. Maxalto was originally set up in 1975 as a high-end group of B&B Italia to focus exclusively on the production of artisanal, mostly wood furniture. Artona was their first project and served as an early Post-Modern counter-message against the common prevailing use of plastics in furniture design during the postwar period. Fits up to 6 chairs comfortably and can squeeze in 8 narrow chairs if necessary.
