Angelo Mangiarotti Eros Console Table in Rosso Verona Marble, Italy, 1970s
-
Description
Rare “Eros” console table designed by Angelo Mangiarotti in the 1970s, executed in striking Rosso Verona marble.
This sculptural piece belongs to Mangiarotti’s renowned Eros series, celebrated for its ingenious construction method: the oval top rests on conical legs, joined solely by gravity and precision-cut circular joints. The distinctive round cut-outs at each end of the top interlock seamlessly with the cone-shaped supports, eliminating the need for adhesives or hardware.
The warm tones and natural veining of the Rosso Verona marble give the table a rich presence, contrasting with the purity of its architectural form. Both functional and monumental, this piece exemplifies Mangiarotti’s philosophy of uniting structure and form, and remains a timeless icon of Italian modernist design. -
