Angelo Mangiarotti was an Italian architect and industrial designer, born in Milan in 1921. He studied architecture at the Politecnico in Milan and graduated in 1948. His designs were mostly for industrial buildings and railway stations. Some of Mangiarotti’s most notable furniture designs were created following the establishment of his studio, where he masterfully designed sculptural and functional stone, stone-bronze and wood-bronze combination tables, consoles, and bookcases.
In 1994 he received the Compasso d'Oro award of the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale for his lifetime of achievement.
