Description
A George II black oak D-end table above a bow-front frieze with straight sides is a refined example of mid-18th-century English furniture, combining elegance with restrained craftsmanship. The “D-end” form refers to its semicircular shape—flat at the back so it can sit flush against a wall, with a gracefully curved front that creates a soft, architectural presence in a room. This frieze is unadorned except for the molded bottom edge, emphasizing proportion and line over heavy carving. It has square straight molded legs. The simplicity of the legs allows the curved front to remain the focal point. The table has aged gracefully over the years and has a lovely patina.
