This 19th-century table is large enough to comfortably accommodate 10 sitters. The tabletop is made from three long planks of pine, which have been stained a warm dark brown. Throughout the piece are notches and heavy patina as beautiful evidence of its use as a work surface. The instances of honest repairs are the most intriguing parts of this table. The inserted cuts of wood into areas of damage or loss–which past repairers made no attempt to hide–tell us of the table’s utilitarian importance. Today, these human touches offer us a feeling of connection to the life this table has lived. Its simplistic design features legs that taper slightly and an apron containing a single drawer. This table has been cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for use in your interiors. Could even be used as a spacious desk. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering the age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
