Description
Designed by Carlo Hauner (1927–2005), this elegant coffee table exemplifies the refined modernism that defined Brazilian design in the postwar period. Crafted in richly grained Brazilian rosewood and topped with a recessed glass surface, the table balances architectural clarity with material warmth.
The rectilinear case form is softened by slender, tapered legs and an open lower shelf, creating a sense of lightness despite its substantial presence. Hauner’s sensitivity to proportion and his mastery of wood are evident throughout, from the carefully joined frame to the expressive veneer patterns.
Born in Italy and later based in Brazil, Carlo Hauner was a central figure in the development of Brazilian modern furniture, blending European modernist principles with local materials and craftsmanship. This table is a timeless example of his disciplined yet elegant approach to design. -
