Quatour Dining Table by Carlo Scarpa

Designed by Carlo Scarpa in 1974, the Quatour table treats woodworking as a kind of quiet architecture. A broad, dark-stained top reads as a single plane, its long edges subtly folded downward to sharpen the profile and add a sense of weight without heaviness. The base is the table’s defining structure: three column-like supports on each side, arranged in a measured rhythm that recalls a colonnade—repetition used not for decoration, but for stability and cadence. Like its name suggests, the piece is built on harmony: proportion, interval, and the steady logic of wood joined with restraint. In the last two images, the table is shown with chairs by Afra & Tobia Scarpa from another listing. Vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use; minor surface marks and patina to the finish. (1906–1978) was an Italian architect and designer known for his precise craftsmanship and innovative use of materials. Blending modernist and Venetian influences, his work spanned architecture, furniture, and glass, with notable projects like the Brion Cemetery and Venini glass designs.
