Chippendale Oval-Top Candlestand with Sliding Drawer
New England, most likely Connecticut or Massachusetts
ca. 1780-1790
Cherry, Pine secondary.
Over-all in great condition, minor repair to one leg joint.
Provenance: Collection of Joanne and Dr. David Woodyard, Granville, Ohio.
This is a great example of a transitional high-country Chippendale candlestand having a seldomly seen sliding, dovetailed drawer. The nicely shaped, under-beveled oval-top is supported by an urn-form turned shaft ending on snake feet.
