Description
Newport, Rhode Island, Circa 1765.
Primary Wood: Mahogany
Secondary Wood: Mahogany
Provenance: An early attached label reads as follows: “pie crust from Nightengale home Prov. R.I.” Samuel Nightengale II (1741-1814) was the son of Samuel Nightengale (1714-1786) of Pomfret, Connecticut. Samuel II was raised in Providence, Rhode Island and was a successful merchant, who invested in the East India and coastal trade.
