Description
A rare glass cocktail table by Cristal Art, circa 1955.
The circular black glass top with an inner section which is a tilt-top which turns completely for the user to enjoy one side or another; with eglomise design of a guitar and wine glasses on one side and a black and white chess board on the reverse. The inner section surrounded by gilt-brass trim and the whole surrounded with black glass and gilt brass; supported on rounded blackened metal legs and terminating in brass feet. A highly unusual and artistic piece, created to be used and enjoyed as a work of art.
Cristal Art was an Italian plate glass manufacturing company established in 1944 in Turin, Italy by Giuseppe and Giovanni Donna. They specialized in the design and production of dramatic and elegant glass and crystal mirrors and furniture.
