American Craft design. Single commission, handmade game or center table made and signed by Dale Broholm in Bubinga and Ebony woods. The square top has intersecting perpendicular lines with round, inlaid Ebony details and four triangular details in Abalone. The base comprises three arched legs, each having a wooden sabot at the foot, and a carved wooden connective support. The tilting top has a brass latch mechanism on its underside that locks the top flat and also releases it to an upright position for space and/or display purposes.
Mr. Broholm has been a furniture maker and designer since the 1980s, based in Massachusetts. Some of his pieces were shown and are in collections of various museums and libraries. He also works as Senior Critic in the Department of Furniture Design at the Rhode Island School of Design and helped create the seminar and studio class, The Witness Tree Project, that is a collaboration between RISD and The National Park Service.
