Damian Jones’s extraordinary Alltwen Table employs the artist’s penchant for bold forms with meticulous detailing. The tables base is sheathed in a tessellated pattern of hand-cut and laid brass “tiles.” Each tile has been patinated in varied colors and shades creating facets that reflect light in a dynamic arrangement. The table’s surface, precisely book-matched in claro walnut has been delicately incised in a radial pattern culminating in a central “mandorla,” a shape commonly found in Byzantine and Romanesque art. The claro walnut has been dyed in a rich green and finished in a flat lacquer giving the table a leather-like look.
The table’s commanding size lends it a versatility perfect for a console, desk, buffet table, library table or dining table.
