Dutch 19th Century Octagonal Ebonized & Burl Maple Center Table

Dutch, 19th century Empire-style octagonal center table that features ebonized detail around burled maple surface. The expansive table top is near-seamlessly matched for continuity within the bird’s eye grain, stained to a deep amber tone and emphasized by the ebonized trim around edges. In the branching frame below, the legs descend from the top as ebonized baluster-forms with evidence of parcel gilt in the fluting to make them glow against the satin black texture. A four-way stretcher mounted with an ebonized urn braces the legs which terminate on casters for mobility. This extraordinary center table has been gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to preserve all the historic character. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering the age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
