Early 18th c. Tavern Table
-
Description
An early 18th century oak tavern table in elm and oak having three plank top with breadboard ends with a scrubbed patina over trestle ends joined by a wide upright stretcher with a shaped underside. One trestle significantly thicker than the other, implying that this table was probably made by an estate joiner rather than a cabinet maker, using available timbers. Iron reinforcement to trestles. One locking wedge replaced. A usefully sized table with lots of character.
