Description
At a Glance:
- This is perhaps one of Eero Saarinen’s most iconic designs, in the easiest to enjoy form-factor.
- White on white is a classic look that remains timeless, in any style interior.
- This table is all-original and despite light wear, in exceptional condition.
In-Depth:
Eero Saarinen’s Pedestal Collection is one of the most recognizable forms in furniture design. Colloquially known as the “Tulip”, Saarinen’s mission was to resolve the chaos under furniture of the 1950’s. In a world where brown wood table legs clashed with their legged chair counterparts; his solution was a single “Pedestal”, a uni-leg which met the floor with such grace never before seen in furniture. The revolutionary form gained popularity and the collection grew to include Chairs, Dining Tables, and as shown here; Side Tables.
This particular piece is the 20” variation of the Pedestal Side Tables. Saarinen excelled in his sense of proportion, a quality very much true in this design. The surface space of the 20” diameter top is the largest of the Tulip side table suite. Whether the table is paired with an accent or lounge chair, pulled up in front of a sofa, or simply a pedestal to display an artifact; it is a design essential which every home needs. The piece is designed with satin White Laminate and finished with a white painted cast Aluminum base. -
