Description
Four Chinese rosewood nested tables
Chinese, early 20th Century
Largest- Height 70cm, width 50cm, depth 36cm
Smallest- Height 36cm, width 29cm, depth 22cm
These beautiful tables were created in China in the early 20th Century. They have been carved from rosewood. These ‘nested tables’ vary in their size, so they can be easily stacked. These table sets are designed to be used occasionally, for tea parties, for instance. They are clever space-savers and beautiful pieces of design.
The four tables are of matching form but of graduated sizes. The tables feature rectangular tops which are edged by raised borders. The tables’ friezes step inwards and are decorated with raised broken bands. Each table stands on four straight legs on outward-turned feet. The smallest table’s legs are linked by a square stretcher, while the stretchers of the larger tables are open at their fronts. This enables the tables to be slotted into one another. - More Information
