Description
A dining table or desk Model TL2 by Franco Albini, better known as "Cavalletto", is an iconic piece designed by the esteemed Italian maestro in the 1950s. This table embodies the essence of lightness and wisdom in its construction. Its structure, founded on opposing tensions, showcases a seemingly temporary yet refined aesthetic, thanks to the elegant metal minutiae and perimeter edging.
Franco Albini envisioned a minimal structure for this historic wooden table, where tension and compression serve as primary codes of a harmonious aesthetic. The design seamlessly combines method and research, form and function, as well as balance and stability.
Crafting this iconic table entails a delicate assembly process, reflecting the class and formal elegance inherent in the design. Notably, the two burnished brass rods not only provide bracing but also enhance the overall visual appeal.
Presented in very good condition, this Cavalletto table remains fully original, having been refinished to retain its original allure. Its significance has been acknowledged and documented in G. Gramigna's publication, "Repertorio 1950-1980," on page 61, published by Mondadori in 1985. -
