Description
A beautiful pair of Art Deco armchairs in wood and fabric, in the style of Guglielmo Ulrich, Italian manufacture, 1940s.
In the comfortable living rooms of the 1940s, the Italian tradition of Rationalism and European Art Deco entered through the mediation of leading designers of the period, who, while often accommodating the conservative bourgeois taste, guided it toward a more modern and less classicist spirit.
These two armchairs in wood and fabric are fully consistent with the aesthetic research of Guglielmo Ulrich, an important figure in Italian architecture who also made a lasting mark in furniture design with a personal and recognizable style. The legs, turned in wood, curve outward, lending the piece a sense of movement that softens the strict, squared lines of the armrests and seat. The backrest, meanwhile, with its convex rear profile, recalls earlier stylistic traditions while providing both visual interest and functional comfort.
The armchairs have been completely restored, both structurally and in their upholstery, in our professional workshop. For the covering, a high-quality white bouclé fabric was chosen.
