French 19th Century Vendange Table
-
Description
This wine tasting – or vendange – table was made in the 19th century in France, by a unique process of layering cheesecloth and candle wax on the wood planks to create a smooth but durable table top finish. Used by wine-makers throughout France and Europe, these specialized tables feature the ability to be stored away when not in use thanks to the tilting mechanism that allows its top to be positioned in upright orientation – taking up less space in tightly-quartered cellars. When tilted upright, the table measures: 48”H x 49-¾”W x 19”D. Today, this unique table would be perfect for a breakfast room or informal dining space, but could also serve as a primary dining table for a smaller family. View the detailed images.
