A unique handcrafted oak drapery or work table from France, early 20th century, its Art Nouveau styling would be ideal for any creative pursuit from artistic to culinary which makes this example perfect as an unexpected kitchen island. The broad surface area is assembled from many parallel planks filling the center, outlined in strips of marquetry borders and framed on the edges with mitered planks that creates a distinctive geometric design. Square, tapering legs are carved with industrial precision around the capitals in a stylized profile of Art Deco/Egyptian Revival, that leads the eye down to the open storage or display shelf hovering over the floor. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready to join your interior. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
