Description
Gary Magakis’ hand-made, unique patined steel Ledges 2 Side Table epitomizes the sculptor’s distinct approach to creating bold and dense geometric forms that simultaneously exude an elegant, buoyant aesthetic of Modernism. At once a functional object and objet d’art, the table is to be experienced differently from every angle. Its features dynamic plays of black and copper hues creating a rich shadows and changing color scheme.
Inspired by Constructivism and the cantilevered rooms by Frank Lloyd Wright, Gary Magakis channels architectural elements in design while tapering each of his forms uniquely. Though each of the table’s geometric sections appear sharp at first glance, they are actually gracefully curvilinear, as the entire piece lacks any straight lines or edges.
Magakis’ series of unique, sculptural furniture are featured in the Financial Times’ How to Spend It, April 2015.
