A George III Satinwood Bonheur du Jour writing desk, the raised superstructure with two shelves above a single frieze drawer fitted with sliding leather lined writing surface, raised on square tapered legs terminating in brass cups and castors.
Circa 1780
Price: £7,500-00p.
Height: 46 ½”, 118 cms / Width: 26 ¾”, 68 cms / Depth: 18 ½ ”, 47 cms
Note: This has many similarities to designs published during this period by Thomas Sheraton.
Provenance: June 1985, acquired from a private collection in Wiltshire.
Exhibited June 1986 by Harvey’s, Summer Exhibition: “The Elegant Quarter – Satinwood and Related Furniture”, catalogue number 16.
Sold to a private collector in Cambridgeshire.
September 2023. Re-acquired by Harvey’s. -
