Description
Double-sided walnut desk by Gianfranco Frattini, produced by Bernini in 1970 (date visible in a photo, at the back of a drawer). Connected by a spacer, the base supports a top which includes two drawers and a niche on the front, as well as two storage areas on the other side. An ideal format, great elegance, and impeccable manufacturing quality. The whole is in very good condition, after careful restoration by an art cabinetmaker.
Gianfranco Frattini (1926-2004) was a renowned Italian architect and designer, a key figure in the Italian design revival of the 1950s and 1960s. Graduating from the Polytechnic of Milan in 1953, he collaborated with Giò Ponti before founding his own agency. Frattini has worked with renowned publishers such as Cassina, Knoll and Artemide, designing iconic furniture. He co-created the Boalum lamp (1969) with Livio Castiglioni, among his most famous pieces. Frattini was also known for his expertise in woodworking and received numerous awards, including the prestigious Compasso d'Oro, for his achievements. -
