Description
This refined Art Deco desk was realized by the legendary Gilbert Rohde in the United States, circa 1941. It features an amorphic kidney form table in Paldao wood two large streamlined legs making up the base each wrapped with studded luxurious white leather. Each leg is fitted with three drawers each with circular convex paldao knobs with a amorphic concentric forms engraved in each. This table is documented and dated to circa 1941 by the paldao knobs. Previously the pulls were made in brass, but all metals were siphoned off to the war efforts (WWII) beginning in 1941. This piece is a stunning testament to Rohde's practice sure to delight discerning collectors of the period, as well as those with a penchant for all things exquisite.
