Guillerme et Chambron Oak Dining Table w/ Extension - Model "a L'Italienne"

$ 20,500
  • Description
    Guillerme et Chambron for Votre Maison, dining table, oak, France, 1965. Dimensions of table with FULL extension is 125.5 inches. This extendable dining table in solid oak by French designers Guillerme and Chambron. This elegant table shows interesting details. Most attractive is the inlaid top. These geometric patterns show the beautiful grain of the oak in different directions, which makes it into a vibrant surface. Characteristic of Guillerme and Chambron are the legs of their furniture - in this case inverted. This table is another excellent example of their style. The legs show beautiful forms, shapes and woodworking. NOTE: THIS ITEM IS LOCATED AND WILL SHIP FROM OUR MIAMI, FLORIDA SHOWROOM.

    The French designer duo Jacques Chambron (1914-2001) and Robert Guillerme (1913-1990) started their production postwar. Robert Guillerme studied design and architecture at the École Boule and graduated first in his class in 1934. Meanwhile, Jacques Chambron graduated from the School of Applied Arts in Reims. In 1948, Chambron resigned from his job as a painter and decorator on the Rue Nollet in Paris to move to Lille, in the North of France and join Guillerme. A year later, the two met cabinetmaker Émile Dariosecq, who was the owner of a workshop close by. It was during this meeting, that they decided to create their own company. They named it “Votre Maison”, which became the soul of the company. With this, they wanted to create pieces that focused on functionality combined with a beautiful design. Throughout their career, ‘Votre Maison’ produced over two thousand models, leaving a lasting mark in the world of design.

    As shown (without extensions) the table is in very nice original condition, minimal signs of wear such as drinks ring and spots. The two side leaves when extended have been hardly used and are of a different wood tone (see detail images).
