Boston, Circa 1765.
Primary Wood: Mahogany
Secondary Woods: Maple, Chestnut
Height: 28 inches
Width: 47 1/2 inches
Depth: 18 1/8 inches; 47 1/2 when opened
Provenance: Descended in the Edlunds Family of Massachusetts.
Reference: Few pieces of New England furniture survive with hairy paw feet and there are no other examples of drop leaf tables. For similar hairy paw feet see Edwin Hipkiss, M. and M. Karolik Collection of Eighteenth Century American Arts, number 25, and also Joseph Downs, American Furniture: Queen Anne and Chippendale Periods, 1725-1788, plate 358. -
