Italy is a country of enduring symbols, many of which have shaped culture across centuries. Among them, Carrara marble stands as a hallmark of artistic heritage, reaching back to Michelangelo and the Renaissance. In the 1950s, post-war Italian designers sought a fresh and optimistic approach to their work, pairing timeless materials with modern ideas. Influenced by the organic forms of Isamu Noguchi and the restrained elegance of Scandinavian modernism, they turned to Carrara marble, brass, and other fine materials to create light and asymmetrical designs that departed from the rigidity of the pre-war past.

This cocktail table is a testament to that spirit. Crafted in Italy during the 1950s, its freeform marble top was hand-cut, ensuring that no two examples were ever identical.
