Elm coffee table made by Jacques Adnet in the 1950s. The top is embellished with three compartments topped with arcuate sockets, covered in saddle stitched brown leather and a removable bottle holder on the side. The rectangular section quadripod base is crowned with saddle stitched leather straps. A rare reference, a collector's item to integrate into different worlds. In very good condition after careful cleaning, carried out by a qualified cabinetmaker.
Jacques Adnet (1900-1984): This French architect, decorator and designer began his career at the Compagnie des Arts Français. He designed modernist furniture as early as the 1930s, using industrial materials like glass, metal and leather, working closely with luxury brands such as Hermès and Cartier. Adnet received several awards for his work, including the prestigious title of "Maître d'Art" awarded by the French government in 1955. He is considered one of the most innovative designers of his time.
