This stunning Mid Century Modern cocktail table was realized by the legendary 20th century designer James Mont. Created in sumptuous antique mirror framed in black lacquer, the piece sits on stylized magnet form bifurcated feet composed of a u-form in right made of right angles. Inspired by traditional designs of East Asia, the piece features a rectractable. The top is composed of two antiqued mirror panels that slide outward revealing a black lacquer compartment in the middle, ideal for serving , or precious objects within. The clean modernist lines, painstakingly created finish on the antiqued mirror and timeless design make this piece as versatile as it is stunning. It would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Deco to contemporary.
Mont was renowned for assimilating elements of classical, orientalist, and Art Deco design into a modern sensibility, using the most luxuriant materials available, a style he termed "Chinese Modern."
