This dramatic and graphic Mid Century Modern mirrored console was realized by the legendary James Mont in the United States circa 1970. Inspired by great Art Deco design, the front features three concentric layers of rectangular mirrored panels- diminishing in size towards the center- adjoined at right angles to create a dynamic staggered skyscraper style silhouette. The sides offer a similar nesting motif with two elongated mirrored rectangular legs adjoined to a pair of shorter mirrored anels (of the same width) that bookend a single central panel (of the shortest length). Another rectangular panel is oriented horizontally above, reiterating the right angled geometries omnipresent throughout. The table top consists of two rectangular mirrored panels whose perimeter is traced by mirrored segments echoing the rectangular forms displayed on the base. With its beautiful attention to detail and clean modernist lines, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. It is an excellent acquisition for those with a passion for the history of design (and historical objects, in general) as well as those with a penchant for all things exquisite. Mont's pieces filled the interiors of the "who's who" in midcentury America- from East Coast Mafioso’s to Hollywood's elite. This rare piece exemplifies the qualities that collectors treasure in Mont's practice. Excellent Condition.
