Story
With the advice of Louis Brulliard, editor-in-chief of Meubles et Décors, Georges Charron founded Groupe 4 with young designers René-Jean Caillette, Geneviève Dangles, Joseph-André Motte and Alain Richard.
In 1953, a Groupe 4 store opened on rue Notre-Dame-de-Lorette in Paris, offering rational furniture for the modern home. Some of the furniture was innovative: hot-bent wood for a series designed by Joseph-André Motte from 1954, adjustable mirrors with indirect lighting for René-Jean Caillette’s dressing table. In the following decade, until its closure in 1972, Charron’s furniture became more luxurious, aimed at a wealthy clientele. -
