Late 18th Century Dutch Marquetry Game Table
-
Description
This Dutch game table/ console is made of mahogany with impressive satinwood marquetry, circa 1795. When in demilune form the beautiful marquetry motif of flowers, overflowing vase, swallows, and scrolling leaves is on full display. The detailed woodwork continues onto the apron and three front legs. The back leg pulls out, concealing a storage drawer that seconds as a support when the top is flipped open. The open table top is covered with a rich leather and stamped with a continuous vine perimeter. Straight, tapered legs are fixed with small metal feet to protect the wood. Make sure to view the detailed images to get a closer look at the unique features of this table.
