Louis XV–Period Game Table in Rosewood Marquetry, France, 18th Century

An elegant French game table reflecting the refined craftsmanship of the Louis XV period, dating to the eighteenth century. Executed in richly figured rosewood veneer, the table features fine marquetry throughout, with decorative inlay extending on all sides. The top is adorned with a checkerboard motif, offering both visual interest and functional purpose.

The table opens to reveal an interior gaming surface, allowing it to transition easily from decorative table to active use. The apron is shaped with fluid movement, resting on four graceful cabriole legs that terminate in bronze sabots, reinforcing the Rococo character of the piece.

The surface retains a finished, waxed patina that enhances the warmth of the rosewood. The table remains in very good overall condition, with a small stable crack visible to the right side of the inlaid tray, consistent with age and use. Both elegant and practical, this game table is well suited for a salon, library, or living room, offering authentic eighteenth-century French charm and decorative refinement.
