Description
This fine antique table is crafted in the Louis XV style, which is synonymous with grace, elegance and exuberance of design. Made from luxurious materials and exhibiting fine marquetry detailing, the table would enhance and compliment both the contemporary or traditional interior.
The table features a folding top, allowing it to take on two forms. With the top closed, the table has a undulating and curvaceous front, with a flat back, allowing it to be positioned against a wall as a side or console table. The top and sides feature exceptional marquetry detailing all over, with complimentary gilt bronze mounts. The marquetry detailing to the table top is particularly impressive, expertly depicting a central bouquet of ornate flowers surrounded by a scrolling, floral border.
The table top unfolds to reveal a free-standing symmetrical card table with a playing surface of traditional green baize, which is bordered with marquetry designs of flowers, foliage and scrolling motifs. The rim of the table is banded with an encircling gilt bronze mount.
The sides of the table are similarly decorated with floral marquetry compositions, with the front of the table set with a hidden drawer. The table stands on four cabriole legs with ormolu mounts to the top and feet.
