Description
This elegant Louis XVI style writing desk dates to the mid-20th century and is crafted in solid mahogany with mahogany veneer. The proportions are refined and balanced, reflecting the neoclassical ideals of symmetry and restraint associated with the Louis XVI tradition. The rectangular top is fitted with its original Havana leather writing surface, framed by a delicate gilt border and surrounded by a brass molding that adds both definition and warmth.
The desk opens with a single, generously sized drawer set into the apron, constructed with traditional dovetail joinery and fitted with a brass pull. Fluted legs taper gracefully to the floor, emphasizing the desk’s lightness and architectural clarity, while subtle brass and gilded bronze accents provide understated ornamentation without excess.
Versatile in scale, this desk works equally well as a writing table, small office desk, or refined console. Its classic design and quality materials make it well suited to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Apron: 24.5"H
