Pair French Modern Neoclassical Rock Crystal & Iron Side Tables Marc du Plantier
-
Description
Rare, elegant and timeless Pair of French Mid-Century Modern Neoclassical Side Tables in Hand Wrought Iron and Rock Crystal attributed to Marc du Plantier. The end tables are hand made and composed in a rare and original tripod form. Their proportions are slender and sensuous. The stretcher unites the 3 legs and each is detailed with geometric form blocking where it meets the legs. The feet provide further detail as each foot balances and adds harmony to the composition. The wrought iron bases are works of art and the pieces are topped with pure, transparent rock crystal. The crystal acts as a counterpoint and compliment to the iron. Light versus dark, yet both are refined, compelling, natural materials.
Marc Duplantier was among the leaders of French 20th century design. His designs were refreshing and defied expectation. He created sensuous forms and used rare materials. His work is much sought after. Priced and sold by the Pair. The diameter of stone tops 11.75".
