Description
Italian architect Marcello Piacentini (1881 - 1960) is best known for his contribution to urban planning including his first commission to redevelop Bergamo Italy's historical center at the age of 26 in 1907. He has a large respected architectural portfolio to his name. His furniture pieces followed a simplified neoclassicism style - with this console a perfect example. Geometric and linear sides in a beautiful rootwood veneer supporting two shelves - upper in a black ebonized top. Classic stacked base in black with fluted detailing that is repeated at the top. Exceptional. 1930s, Italy.
