Description
Mario Ceroli (born 1938 in Castelfrentano, Abruzzo) is an Italian sculptor and set designer. He lives and works in Rome. At the beginning of his career Ceroli worked primerily with ceramics then in 1957 moved on to work with pine wood that quickly became his favourite material. In 1967 started showing his work with the group of Arte Povera artists and using materials such as: burnt wood, glass, lead, rags, ice, paper, ash and sheet metal.
His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson, Mississippi. His public sculptures are on the Luigi Einaudi campus of the University of Turin, at the Vatican Museums, at Rai in Saxa Rubra, San Lorenzo church in Porto Rotondo and so on.
Among the many public institutions featuring his works there are: Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Rome, Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence, MAMbo - Museo d'Arte Moderna in Bologna, Collezione Roberto Casamonti in Florence.
In the early 1970s, he had a relationship with the Italian television and film actress Daria Nicolodi. They had a daughter, Anna, who was born in 1972 and died in a 1994 traffic accident.
This Unique work has a Certification of Authenticity signed from Mario Ceroli. The smaller side of the trapezoidal table measures 80 cm. while the larger one is 170 cm. - More Information
