Dining Table in the Form of a Draped Cloth by Marzio Cecchi, Italy, mid-1970s

$ 39,000
  • Description
    A rare sculptural dining table by Italian architect Marzio Cecchi (Capalle, Florence, 1940 – New York, 1990), executed in the mid-1970s as a unique private commission. Accompanied by a handwritten certificate of authenticity.

    The table takes the form of a four-legged base draped in a flowing cloth, achieved through Cecchi's signature technique of immersing cotton fabric in resin to capture the drape mid-fall. The result is a striking illusion of suspended weightlessness — furniture conceived as sculpture.

    A graduate of the University of Florence and founder of Studio Most, Cecchi remains a singular figure in Italian design, known for bespoke, one-of-a-kind pieces created as an artist-designer rather than for industrial production. His works are held in major museum collections internationally.
